Registration to aquatic activities begins on Amilia on:
Instructional courses for children 4 years old and over to develop their water safety and skills.
Level 1: Jellyfish
Swimmers focus on becoming comfortable in the water without their parents, and play fun games to start enjoying swimming.
Key Objectives: submerge face and blow bubbles, front/back float with assistance (3 secs), front/back swim with assistance (5 m)
Level 2: Starfish
Swimmers transition from assisted skills to unassisted skills. They also learn how to flutter kick, and become comfortable with their face completely underwater.
Key Objectives: Retrieve object with a bob, front/back float unassisted (3 secs), front/back swim unassisted (5 m)
Equivalent Levels: Red Cross-Aquaquest 1,2, YMCA-Otter
Level 3: Pufferfish
Swimmers become comfortable swimming and supporting themselves in deeper water. They are introduced to side breathing, and learn sitting and kneeling dives with assistance.
Key Objectives: Surface support in deep water (20 secs), sitting/kneeling dives with assistance, introduction to side breathing, front/back swim (10 m)
Equivalent Levels: Red Cross-Aquaquest 3, YMCA-Seal
Level 4: Guppy
Swimmers learn how to tread water, and transition to unassisted kneeling dives. They are introduced to front crawl, and learn how to perform forwards and backwards somersaults.
Key Objectives: tread water (45 secs), front/back somersaults, intro to front crawl, endurance swim (25 m)
Equivalent Levels: Red Cross-Aquaquest 4, YMCA-con’t Seal
Level 5: Seahorse
Swimmers continue to build their endurance treading water and swimming, and are introduced to back crawl and sculling.
Key Objectives: tread water (1 min), standing dive, intro to back crawl, endurance swim (50 m)
Equivalent Levels: Red Cross-Aquaquest 5, YMCA – Dolphin
Level 6: Manta Ray
Swimmers learn basic skills for breaststroke and butterfly, and continue to refine their front crawl and back crawl skills.
Key Objectives: tread water (2 mins), tumble turn, whip-kick, dolphin kick, front crawl/back crawl (25 m), endurance swim (75 m)
Equivalent Levels: Red Cross-Aquaquest 6, YMCA – Swimmer
Level 7: Sea turtle
Swimmers learn how to perform a stride jump. They also continue to improve front and back crawl through increasingly complex drills and activities.
Key Objectives: tread water (3 mins), stride jump, intro to breaststroke, endurance swim (100 m)
Equivalent Levels: Red Cross-Aquaquest 7, YMCA- Star 1, beginning of Star 2
Level 8: Swordfish
Swimmers are introduced to an important lifesaving skill: eggbeater kick. They are introduced to the arm movements for butterfly, and continue to build their aquatic endurance.
Key Objectives: intro to eggbeater kick, one arm butterfly (50 m), shallow dive with streamline, endurance swim (175 m)
Equivalent Levels: Red Cross-Aquaquest 8, YMCA-con’t Star 2, RLSS-Lifesaving 1
Level 9: Shark
Swimmers refine their technique in all four strokes, and make leaps in their endurance swim. They also continue learning about basic lifesaving skills.
Key Objectives: tread water (4 mins), reverse and ready, backstroke turn, endurance swim (300 m)
Equivalent Levels: Red Cross-Aquaquest 9, 10, YMCA-Star 3, RLSS-Lifesaving 2
Level 10: Orca
Swimmers learn how to perform butterfly and breaststroke touch-turns. They also learn how to perform a basic turnover and tow with aid, preparing them for future lifesaving courses.
Key Objectives: tread water (5 min), turnover with aid and tow, butterfly/breaststroke turn, endurance swim (500 m)
Equivalent Levels: Red Cross-Aquaquest 11, 12, YMCA-Star 5, 6, RLSS- Lifesaving 3
Guppies Swim Team (6 and under)
An intro to swim team for those who still need a little work! We encourage all children who are able to swim at least 12 m (1 width) to join. Our goal is to prepare young swimmers for the higher levels of swim team by practicing relays and swim techniques!
Swim Team
Get immersed in the world of summer competitive swimming in a fun and confidence building team setting.
A half hour lesson providing a warm and playful introduction to the swimming pool while emphasizing safety. Parent and child will be introduced to basic water skills, a variety of carries, teaching aids such as flutter boards, noodles, swimming bubbles and more. Children must be 5 months old before the start of the session.
Groups
Recreational water polo provides a fun introduction to water polo for all skill levels. Enjoy the blend of swimming, strategy, and teamwork in a relaxed environment. Our supportive coaches focus on basic techniques and game strategies, making it easy to dive in and have fun.
This program is perfect for athletes aged 8 and up who are eager to master the fundamentals of artistic swimming and sharpen their skills in preparation for the future.
Group:
The goal of the diving program is to learn these skills in a safe and friendly environment. Diving is open to kids of all ages and levels but it is recommended that the participants be able to swim unaided across a 25 metre pool and be comfortable in deep water.
Lessons will teach beginners basic diving techniques, diving safety and increase participants strength and confidence. More experienced divers will further strengths and be challenged with more complicated and technical dives.
The Bronze Star is the first Bronze level certification. It introduces you to lifesaving through problem solving and decision-making as an individual and as a member of a team. You will learn how to perform resuscitation on a victim who has stopped breathing and develop the lifesaving skills necessary to become your own lifeguard.
The Bronze Medallion award introduces the four basic components of lifesaving: judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness. You will learn towing, carrying, defending, and disengaging techniques to be prepared to rescue conscious and unconscious victims in increasingly dangerous situations.
Prerequisites:
If you are looking for more advanced training to learn lifeguarding fundamentals, the Bronze Cross certification is for you. You will also learn how to rescue a victim with a spinal injury in the deep end and a submerged victim in cardiorespiratory arrest.
Prerequisites:
Beginner swimming lessons for teens and adults.
Master swimming provides adults an opportunity to increase physical fitness and improve stroke and swimming techniques.
Comprehensive fitness class incorporating light impact with high intensity excercises to improve cardiovascular endurance and tone the muscles.
There are 3 different memberships: individual, senior and family. Resident rates apply to Montreal West residents only. A pool membership is necessary to sign up to our activities.

The Town of Montreal West is pleased to announce that it will offer aquatic activities to campers and residents as part of the Recreation department’s 2025 summer programming. Thanks to the collaboration of the City of Côte Saint-Luc, campers and participants of Montreal West activities will be able to participate in aquatic programming organized and led by the Town, just like last year.
Summer aquatic programs taught by Montreal West staff members will be offered at the Côte Saint-Luc pool.

Transportation by school bus to and from the Côte Saint Luc Aquatic Centre will be available for a fee for Swim Team programs. Multiple pick-up locations will be provided in Town, with a drop-off at Royal West Academy.
Campers will be bussed to the Côte Saint-Luc pool several times per week where they will be able to partake in the usual aquatic activities. The pool activity schedule for campers will be shared with registrants as soon as it is finalized.
Furthermore, summer aquatics programs taught by Montreal West staff members will also be offered at the Côte Saint-Luc pool. The schedule of these activities will soon be made available.

Due to construction of the new Sports and Recreation Centre, the Montreal West pool is now closed until its planned re-opening in 2025.
Registration for pool memberships and all programs are accepted on a first come, first served basis and are subject to the following conditions:
Only signed and dated written requests will be considered for refunds. All refunds are subject to a $35 administration charge. Any refund requested after the start of the program, but only up to the completion of one third of said program, will be prorated. No refund will be issued after completion of one third of said program.
In order to accommodate residents with memberships to our pool, the Town has finalized an agreement with Côte Saint-Luc to use their facilities.
Outdoor pool: Montreal West residents with memberships to our pool can access Côte Saint-Luc’s Parkhaven Pool free of charge until September 4th (Residents will be asked for a piece of ID to be checked against a membership list provided to them). Montreal West residents without a membership must pay the daily fee.
Indoor pool: Montreal West residents pay the Côte Saint-Luc resident fee.
