The Town of Montréal West is pleased to announce the addition of temporary school crossing guards at the intersection of Ainslie and Westminster South, effective April 7. This measure will remain in place until the end of the current school term at Royal West Academy.
The Town wishes to thank the key partners who contributed to the implementation of this measure: Ms. Désirée McGraw, MNA for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce; the mobilized parents of students; as well as representatives from the English Montreal School Board, Royal West Academy, and the Montréal Police Service (SPVM).
Thanks to the exceptional collaboration among these stakeholders, this positive decision will allow for the presence of school crossing guards while awaiting the completion of safety improvement work planned for this area later this summer. This is an exceptional and temporary measure for the current school term only.
“I am pleased with the collaborative work that has been accomplished. Everyone demonstrated attentiveness and openness in the search for solutions. Student safety is everyone’s responsibility, and we are happy to have brought together all stakeholders to enhance the process,” added Mayor Jonathan Cha.
