A second and final coat of paving will be applied to Westminster Ave South by Sajo, the contractor for The Easton. To accomodate the work, Westminster S. will be closed between Ainslie Rd and Avon Rd from 7 a.m. on November 2 to 7 a.m. on November 4.
Please note that Ainslie Road is scheduled to reopen before work on Westminster Ave South begins.
Work schedule
Work is planned from Monday, November 2, 2026, at 7 a.m. to Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 7 a.m. (dates subject to change)
Traffic impacts
- Westminster Avenue South will be closed to through traffic between Ainslie Road and Avon Road. Local access will be maintained as described in the “Access to buildings” section.
- One westbound lane on Avon Road in front of The Easton will be closed.
Planned detours
Detours are planned to help you get around during the work. Please follow the temporary signage and allow extra time for your trips.
- From Westminster North towards Avon Road: turn left onto Sherbrooke, then right onto Elmhurst and continue to Avon Road.
- From Ainslie Road towards Avon Road: turn left onto Westminster South, then right onto Broughton and right onto Connaught or Elmhurst. Continue to Avon Road.
- From Brynmor towards Westminster North: turn right onto Avon Road, left onto Elmhurst, left onto Sherbrooke, then right onto Westminster.
- From Avon (eastbound) towards Easton: turn left on Brock South, right on Broughton, right on Connaught or Elmhurst, right on Avon
Access to buildings
Westminster Avenue South will remain open to local traffic between Ainslie Road and the work zone in front of 45 Westminster Avenue South. Residents of 25, 37 and 39 Westminster Avenue South will be able to access their homes at all times. Town Hall will be accessible via Easton Avenue.
Pedestrian access
The sidewalks on the east side of Westminster Avenue South and the north side of Avon Road will be closed. Pedestrians must use the sidewalk on the west side of Westminster Avenue South and the sidewalk on the south side of Avon Road.
