The municipal general election allows Montreal West residents who have the right to vote, to choose the people who will represent them for a 4 year mandate. Portfolios are not assigned to specific seat numbers and are assigned by the Mayor after the election.
For the application of certain provisions of the law, please note that Montreal West is a municipality with a population of more than 5,000 residents.

You will vote for one person among the candidates running for office. You will need to vote for more than one position in the election, specifically, for the position of mayor and for three councillors (one councillor was elected by acclamation).
Where and when to vote?
You can vote in the advance poll or on polling day.
You can bring the notice of entry or the reminder card you received in the mail. It’s not mandatory, but it helps election officers direct you to the right place more quickly. Make sure to bring one of the accepted identification documents:

On election day, you must also meet one of the following two conditions, depending on your domiciliary address.
You’ll need to appear before the Board of Revisors if you must register on the municipal list of electors or if you notice any inaccurracies on the notice of entry.
The Returning Officer of the Town is seeking personnel to work for the municipal election. All members of the electoral personnel will be required to attend training sessions, which will be held during the evening time. If you are interested in a position, please fill an application form and return it to the Returning Officer at election@montreal-west.ca.
You are in a recognized health care facility or you are domiciled on the territory of the municipality and you are unable to move about for health reasons?
You may apply to vote in your room or domicile. You can also modify your entry on the list of electors.
If you are eligible for this service, election officers will come to your domicile so you can exercise your right to vote.
Your informal caregiver could also vote at the same time, if they are entered in the same polling subdivision as you on the list of electors. Contact your returning officer for more information.
The vote by mobile polling station will take place on October 24, 2025.
How do you submit your request?
Requests must be submitted in writing by using the Application to vote by mobile polling station form available below or at Town Hall and received no later than October 14. Written requests may be submitted:

We suggest that you make an appointment with us to produce your Nomination paper, in order to allow the verification of its conformity with the requirements of the law and obtain its official acceptance, if applicable, as well as to obtain the status of authorized independent candidate to collect contributions or incur elections expenses.

As in previous municipal elections, The Informer will be hosting a Meet the Candidates evening. Candidates will present information about themselves and then answer questions posed by audience members. Local resident Julie Ducharme will be moderating.
The event will be broadcast live on The Informer’s YouTube channel for those unable to attend in person, and there will be a chance to submit questions in advance if you are not able to attend. More details will be shared in October.
