{"id":93496,"date":"2025-08-11T08:52:59","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T12:52:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/montreal-west.ca\/?p=93496"},"modified":"2025-08-11T13:18:39","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T17:18:39","slug":"stay-cool-and-safe-during-the-heat-wave","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/montreal-ouest.ca\/en\/stay-cool-and-safe-during-the-heat-wave\/","title":{"rendered":"Stay cool and safe during the heat wave"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With the ongoing heat wave in the Greater Montreal area, we remind residents to take extra precautions to protect themselves and loved ones from the extreme temperatures.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few ways to stay safe:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drink water regularly, don\u2019t wait until you\u2019re thirsty.<\/li>\n<li>Spend a few hours each day in an air-conditioned or cool location.<\/li>\n<li>Take a refreshing shower or bath or cool down with a wet towel.<\/li>\n<li>Limit physical activity, especially outdoors.<\/li>\n<li>Wear light-coloured, loose-fitting clothing.<\/li>\n<li>Keep in touch with family and friends, particularly those more vulnerable to the heat.<\/li>\n<li>Close windows, curtains, and blinds when the sun is strongest.<\/li>\n<li>Limit the use of heat-producing appliances (stove, oven, dryer, TV, lights, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Avoid alcoholic, caffeinated, or sugary drinks, which can lead to dehydration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Cooling station<\/h3>\n<p>The Town will open the air-conditioned Music Room at Town Hall to the public today and tomorrow:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monday August 11 from 11:45 a.m. to 4:30p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Tuesday, August 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Water play areas<\/h3>\n<p>To help beat the heat, residents of all ages are welcome to enjoy the Town\u2019s splash pads:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Davies Park:<\/strong> 7 a.m. \u2013 9 p.m.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Strathearn Park:<\/strong> 7 a.m. \u2013 10 p.m.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rugby Park:<\/strong> 7 a.m. \u2013 10 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Other resources<\/h3>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><b data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Health Info at 811, Option 1:<\/b><\/div>\n<ul data-editing-info=\"{&quot;applyListStyleFromLevel&quot;:true}\">\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\">Regional service that provides advice and referrals for people with non-urgent health problems.
