{"id":39088,"date":"2021-10-26T11:00:07","date_gmt":"2021-10-26T15:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/montreal-west.ca\/?p=39088"},"modified":"2021-11-03T14:21:40","modified_gmt":"2021-11-03T18:21:40","slug":"municipal-elections-important-information","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/montreal-ouest.ca\/en\/municipal-elections-important-information\/","title":{"rendered":"Municipal elections &#8211; important information"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The upcoming municipal election will take place on\u00a0<strong>Sunday, November 7, 2021<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The independent candidates for this election are:<br \/><br \/><strong>Councillor \u2013 Seat Number 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mr. Eric Aberman<\/li>\n<li>Ms. Lauren Small-Pennefather<\/li>\n<li>Mr. Nathaniel Ward<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Councillor \u2013 Seat Number 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mr. Julien Feldman<\/li>\n<li>Ms. Elizabeth Ulin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Poll information<\/h3>\n<p>Given the sanitary restrictions due to COVID-19, the Town has taken additional measures to ensure that voting can take place safely.\u00a0Among other things, there will be 7 advance polling stations instead of 4 like in 2017, and residents with mobility or health issues are specially invited to vote on October 31.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Advance poll &#8211; Sunday, October 31, 2021<\/strong> from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Elizabeth Ballantyne School.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Polling day \u2013 Sunday, November 7, 2021<\/strong>\u00a0from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.\n<ul>\n<li>for polling sections 1 to 7 and 12 to 14: at Royal West Academy (new gym)<\/li>\n<li>for polling sections 8 to 11: at Edinburgh School<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A reminder card will be sent to voters indicating the polling station they are registered to vote at.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On polling day, voters must bring their polling card with them along with an identification document (Qu\u00e9bec Health insurance card, Qu\u00e9bec driver\u2019s license, Canadian passport, Indian status identity card or Canadian Forces identity card.<\/p>\n<p>Wearing a mask is mandatory. Voters may also bring a lead pencil, a black or blue ink pen to mark their ballot. All sanitary measures will be respected.<\/p>\n<h3>Voting by mail<\/h3>\n<p>October 27 is the last day for transmitting a request for voting by mail (4:30 p.m.). The application form is available on the <strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/montreal-west.ca\/en\/our-town\/municipal-election-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Municipal Election 2021<\/a><\/u><\/strong> page.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Mail-in ballots must be received by November 5 (4:30 p.m.) at the latest.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Starting November 3rd, we recommend that ballots be dropped off directly at Town Hall to ensure that they are received by the deadline. You may drop it off in our mailbox (the envelope fits when folded in two) or ring the doorbell between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and we will open the door to accept your ballot.<\/p>\n<h3>Electoral staff<\/h3>\n<p>The Returning Officer of the Town is seeking personnel to work on Sunday, November 7, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (Counting of advance poll votes).\u00a0All members of the electoral personnel will be required to attend a training session, which will be held during the evening time.<\/p>\n<h3>The Informer presents <em>Meet the candidates<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>The Informer will be holding the Meet the Candidates evening virtually on\u00a0Wednesday, October 27 at 7 p.m.<br \/><br \/>This is an opportunity for you to submit questions to the candidates.
