{"id":15111,"date":"2019-09-17T13:36:28","date_gmt":"2019-09-17T17:36:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/montreal-west.ca\/?p=15111"},"modified":"2019-09-19T09:03:11","modified_gmt":"2019-09-19T13:03:11","slug":"hydro-quebec-and-its-municipal-partners-working-together-to-create-a-green-corridor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/montreal-ouest.ca\/en\/hydro-quebec-and-its-municipal-partners-working-together-to-create-a-green-corridor\/","title":{"rendered":"Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec and its municipal partners working together to create a green corridor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec, the Ville de Montr\u00e9al, the boroughs\u00a0concerned, as well as the cities of Montreal West, C\u00f4te Saint-Luc and Mount Royal will\u00a0work together to support greenery and active transportation initiatives in the transmission\u00a0line right-of-way between the Aqueduc substation and Saraguay substation. This\u00a0collaboration is part of a plan to upgrade the transmission system between LaSalle and\u00a0Saint-Laurent. A green corridor may include a bike bath, pedestrian link, landscaping and recreational facilities. The project provides for<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>rebuilding the 120-kV Aqueduc-Saraguay overhead transmission line at 315 kV<\/li>\n<li>over a span of 18 km between LaSalle and Saint-Laurent ;<\/li>\n<li>converting three 120-kV substations to 315 kV\u2014Rockfield substation (in Lachine), Hampstead substation (in C\u00f4te Saint-Luc) and Laurent substation (in\u00a0Saint-Laurent).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the coming weeks, Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec will determine the details of the collaboration with\u00a0each of its municipal partners. The public will be invited to take part in various\u00a0information and consultation sessions over the next few months. Cooperation among the\u00a0partners will promote biodiversity, connectivity and sustainable mobility, and improve\u00a0community life for residents.<br \/><br \/>The Aqueduc-Saraguay project is estimated at over $500 million. The project involves\u00a0replacing aging equipment, maintaining the system\u2019s reliability, meeting future electricity\u00a0needs and supporting Montr\u00e9al\u2019s economic development.<br \/><br \/>The project is in its initial stages, and the current plan is to build the transmission line in\u00a0the existing right-of-way. However, the line route may be optimized at a later stage of the\u00a0project to mitigate its impacts according to technical, economic, environmental and social criteria.
