By completing our program*, teens will gain a basic understanding of what it means to be a Montreal West Day Camp (MWDC) counsellor and acquire basic work skills. During the day, teens will spend half their day covering theory and the other part in groups shadowing MWDC counsellors.\u00a0<\/p><p>Content covered consists of, but is not limited to:\u00a0<\/p><ul><li>A to Z of camp<\/li><li>Child integration<\/li><li>General Safety<\/li><li>Anti-bullying<\/li><li>Time management<\/li><li>What it means to be a counsellor<\/li><li>Animation of activities<\/li><li>Specialists<\/li><li>Variety Show<\/li><li>Professionalism (at camp &amp; general work habits, CV, interviews, etc.)<\/li><li>CPR and first aid certification\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><p>We recommend this program for 14-year-olds and 15-year-olds who want greater independence in a camp setting, and would like to start building their leadership skills in hopes of becoming a MDWC counselor.\u00a0<\/p><p>*To successfully complete the program, a CIT <strong><u>must attend<\/u><\/strong> all 20 hours of theoretical training and obtain a score of at least 75% on their final examination. Teens must successfully complete CIT 1 before being able to advance to CIT 2.\u00a0 See above for conditions of CIT 1 program completion.<\/p><p>Designed for teens, our CIT 2 is the second level of the CIT program. The purpose of the program is to help teens further develop leadership and professional skills and build the confidence necessary to work with children. CITs will get a more hands-on experience where they will spend most of their time shadowing and assisting MWDC counsellors within their groups. They will also receive more detailed training on specific topics covered in CIT 1 from senior staff members on how camp and group dynamics work. The remaining balance must be paid by post-dated cheque or credit card, dated no later than April 25 at the time of registration. Payments made by personal cheques will only be accepted prior to May 8.<\/p><p>Registration for the camp is done through our online registration system.<\/p><h2>Refund policy<\/h2><p>Refunds will only be considered upon receipt of a written request. Refunds requested prior to May 8 will be subject to a 20% administrative charge. Requests from May 9 prior to the start of the camp will be subject to a 30% administrative charge. All requests made after the start of the camp will be subject to a 35% administrative charge and will be pro-rated weekly. Once the week has begun (9 a.m. on a Monday), it is considered to have been completed.<\/p><h2>Adding a session<\/h2><p>If you choose to add a session once camp begins, you will be required to pay the 4 week session cost and not the difference between 4 week and 8 weeks.<\/p><h2>Additional information<\/h2><ul><li>Locations and programs are subject to change.<\/li><li>We do our best to accommodate all requests for placing children in specific groups, however, they are not guaranteed.
