The Town of Montreal West will soon begin road rehabilitation work on Ainslie Street, between Campbell and Westminster avenues. The work will extend the life of the roadway and improve comfort and safety for all users.<\/p>

The work will be carried out in phases to maintain access to the neighbourhood and minimize impacts on residents and local traffic.<\/p>

The safety of students, pedestrians, cyclists and motorists remains the top priority. A safe pedestrian route will be maintained throughout the work, and traffic controllers will be on site to manage vehicle access in the work zone.<\/p>

Temporary traffic disruptions should be expected for the duration of the work.<\/p>

Scope of work<\/h2>
The work will include:<\/p>
Traffic management and preparatory work;<\/li>
Removal of the existing roadway;<\/li>
Reconstruction of the road base;<\/li>
Road paving;<\/li>
Adjustment of existing manholes, catch basins and other structures;<\/li>
Road markings.<\/li><\/ul>

Daytime work, Monday to Friday.<\/li><\/ul>
The duration of the work may vary depending on weather conditions and other operational constraints.<\/em><\/p>
What to expect during the work<\/h2>
Residents are asked to follow all temporary signage, allow additional travel time in the area, and move their vehicles if temporary parking restrictions are posted on their street.<\/p>
Traffic and pedestrian access<\/strong><\/p>
Work will be carried out in phases to maintain access to the neighbourhood;<\/li>
Ainslie Street will be partially closed as work progresses;<\/li>
Temporary signage and local detours will be in place;<\/li>
A safe pedestrian corridor will be maintained throughout the work;<\/li>
Flaggers will be on site to help manage vehicle access around the work area.<\/li><\/ul>
Parking<\/strong><\/p>
At certain times during the work, vehicle access to your driveway may be temporarily restricted;<\/li>
Temporary on-street parking restrictions will be in effect near the work site;<\/li>
Residents may park their vehicles on adjacent streets, subject to the following conditions:
Park only on the designated side of the street;<\/li>
Do not obstruct fire hydrants, private driveways or intersections.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>
Public Safety has been notified of these conditions. Vehicles that interfere with construction activities may be ticketed or towed.<\/p>
General impacts<\/strong><\/p>
Noise and vibrations from construction equipment;<\/li>
Temporary dust and debris;<\/li>
Heavy machinery and trucks in the area;<\/li>
The condition of properties in the work zone will be documented before work begins. Any damage directly attributable to the construction will be repaired;<\/li>
Garbage, recycling and organic waste collection will continue during the work.
Bins must be placed at the curb as usual before 7 a.m. on collection day<\/li>
The contractor will label each bin to ensure it is returned to the correct address. Please do not remove these labels until the work is complete.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>
The contractor will take measures to minimize disruptions wherever possible.<\/p>
Site repairs<\/strong><\/p>
Photos and videos will be taken prior to the work to document the condition of private properties. While every effort will be made to minimize impacts, some incidental damage may be difficult to avoid during construction. This documentation helps ensure that any areas affected by the work are properly identified and restored once the project is complete. Repairs will be carried out for damage directly attributable to the construction work.<\/p>
