Collection schedule

Garbage

Regular garbage is picked up once a week. Collection takes place on Thursday mornings starting at 7:00 a.m.

Garbage bins can be placed out by curbside as of 9:00 p.m. the night before pickup. Any items in bags, however, must be put out on Thursday morning after 6:00 a.m. All bins must be pulled back no later than 7:00 p.m. on collection day.

Residents are responsible for purchasing their own garbage bins. However, residents should ensure that their bin has a European grip or risk their garbage not being picked up. If the bin cannot be picked up by a mechanical arm, the contents cannot exceed 50lbs in weight.

Recycling

The recycling bin will be picked up on Tuesday starting at 7:00 a.m. throughout the year. Bins may be put out for collection as early as 9 p.m. on the eve of the scheduled collection day.

Items on the ground or overflowing the bin will not be collected.

Organic waste

Weekly pick up takes place on Tuesday starting at 7:00 a.m. Bins may be put out for collection as early as 9 p.m. on the eve of the scheduled collection day.

Put your surplus green waste (leaves, garden waste, etc.) in a paper bag, cardboard box or empty garbage can beside your wheeled brown bin for pick up.

Christmas tree collection

Simply place your natural Christmas tree in front of your house throughout the month of January and Public Works will pass by to collect it within the week. Remember to remove all decorations, tinsel and garlands before putting it out on the curb.

The trees will be placed around the outdoor rinks before being recycled into wood chips that will be used in our parks.

How to place your bin

Since the pick-up will be an automated one, it is important to place your bin at the edge of your driveway (but not on the street or sidewalk) with the wheels facing the home. Ensure that nothing is covering the lid and that it is well closed.
